The cabin is a gateway to a number of outdoor activities including hiking, skiing, mountain biking and more. Check out some of our recommendations.
Brainard Lake is about 15 minutes from the house and has amazing views, fishing and hiking. You must make reservations. Just follow the link!
Hesse Trailhead is part of the vast Indian Peaks Wilderness. It is the launching point for both challenging and medium level hikes. There is a shuttle in town that takes you up to the trailhead.
Rocky Mountain National Park is about an hour from the house. If you are interested in car touring and a small touristy town, this may be the spot for you.
Mud Lake is just 5 minutes from the house and has several short one two to mile loops around a small lake. Makes for a great family outing, particularly if you have small children.
Eldora Mountain Resort is about 20 minutes from the house and offers both Alpine and Nordic skiing. A quaint resort just above town makes for a lovely family outing.

The quaint town of Nederland has some great local eateries. Check them out if you have time.
Crosscut Pizzeria prepares wonderful wood fire pizzas in a festive environment.
New Moon Bakery offers up eclectic pastries like goat cheese lavender croissants and churro donuts for the early riser.
Decent Bagels makes their bagels from scratch. Enjoy these delicious eats prior to going out hiking or skiing. They also host evening tapas Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
Salto Coffeehouse is a local hangout with awesome small plates, coffee drinks and a nice selection of wine & beer. An additional perk is Tin Shed Sports our local bike shop where you can consult experts on local bike trails and even rent.
The Knotted Root Brewery is a local brewery where you can enjoy an amazing crafted beer, eat from the rotating food trucks on weekends and enjoy a bit of live music. Outside food welcome.
Very Nice Brewing Company is Nederland’s first brewery where locals and tourists gather to enjoy their rotating brews and live music.

Our small town has some lovely bits of entertainment here and there that you might enjoy.
The Caribou Room. Nederland has a rich history of musicians coming to explore their creativity. The Caribou Room is a live performance studio where bands from across North America play. It is a cozy venue, with a full bar and food. Check out some of the great bands that come to Nederland.
Nederland Farmers Market. Our local Farmer’s Market runs from late Spring through early Fall and hosts an array of local products. You might be surprised to find wild caught salmon from Alaska, or locally harvested honey!
Carrousel of Happiness. This original, hand-carved carrousel was built by local Scott Harrison, in honor of his fallen brothers in Vietnam. It is a passion project that fills the community with love. If you are here with your kids or grandkids, it’s a must!
Tadasana Mountain Yoga is the local yoga center in Nederland which provides several classes daily, both in person and remotely. In the summer, they even host classes outdoors in the park.
Wild Bear Nature Center fosters a deep connection to the natural world here in Nederland. With a focus on mountain ecology, Wild Bear offers year-round environmental education programs for individuals of all ages and backgrounds in addition to welcoming guests to its free hands-on nature center. It’s a great place to schedule a family outing.
